Scottsdale, Arizona is one the premiere shopping destinations in the Southwest United States, and as a result Scottsdale real estate values are high. The city is home to countless high-end, retail shops, as well as independent boutiques.  The most notable regional centers include the upscale Kierland Commons in North Scottsdale, and the massive Scottsdale Fashion Square in Downtown Scottsdale. These shopping centers, among others in Scottsdale, claim dozens of marquee brands that are unique to both Phoenix and the Southwestern US.

Scottsdale’s Nightlife

Scottsdale, Arizona is home to a variety of high-end nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, and lounges.  The New York Times described Scottsdale as one of the "hippest and most happening" places in the country.  The majority of nightlife is concentrated in Downtown Scottsdale, and is one of the the most active and popular nightlife destination in Metro Phoenix.  Much like Miami's South Beach, most of Downtown Scottsdale's major bars and clubs are located within walking distance, and provides a vibrant scene during most evenings.  Crowds of over 40,000-strong are known to congregate to this area from Thursdays through Sundays.  Because of there proximity, downtown Scottsdale real estate, whether a house or condo, maintains high values.

Scottsdale Real Estate and Recreation

Scottsdale, Arizona is widely known as a premier golf destination in the US.  Scottsdale is home to more than 200 area courses that range from the traditional rolling green fairways to more native desert designs.  Recently, the Robb Report cited Scottsdale as "America's Best Place to Live for Golf." In 2005, Travel & Leisure Golf Magazine selected The Boulders Resort & Golden Spa and Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North among the top 5 best golf resorts in the nation. Other exceptional golf courses include Desert Mountain, Desert Highlands, and Grayhawk ... Scottsdale real estate golf course lots are highly sought-after.

The FBR Open Golf Tournament is held annually in January at the Tournament Players Club in North Scottsdale. It is the largest-attended stop of the PGA Tour, attracting over 500,000 spectators to the 4-day event.

Hiking, rock climbing and other outdoor activities are enormously popular throughout Scottsdale, in large part to the immediate accessibility of the McDowell Mountains in the McDowell-Sonoran Preserve, at the city's northeastern fringes.  Another local favorite is Camelback Mountain, located in the central section of Metro Phoenix

Scottsdale Stadium in Downtown Scottsdale is the Spring Training home of the San Francisco Giants, who play in the Arizona Cactus League annually.  Scottsdale Stadium also hosts the minor league baseball team, Scottsdale Scorpions, in the Arizona Fall League.

Nearby, all the major sports leagues have franchises and play within the Phoenix Metropolitan Area - NBA's Phoenix Suns, NFL's Arizona Cardinals, NHL's Phoenix Coyotes and MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks.

Scottsdale, Arizona Annual Events

Renowned around the world, the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show has been a Scottsdale tradition since 1955.  Nearly 2000 purebred Arabian and Half-Arabian horses compete for various prizes and recognition in a show that attracts thousands of visitors and tourists.

The Scottsdale Jaycees Parada del Sol is an annual month-long event that has been held in Scottsdale since 1954. The event begins each year with the Parada del Sol Parade, the world's largest horse-drawn parade with over 150 entries.

For forty years, the Barrett-Jackson Auto Show has made its home in Scottsdale, Arizona. The show is known for featuring exotic, luxury, and historic vehicles which have been expertly restored to mint condition  it’s the largest and most well-known auto auctions in the world.

Considered the longest continually running festival of its kind in the nation, the very popular Scottsdale Culinary Festival is held annually during April.

Scottsdale, Arizona’s Museums and Art Galleries

Scottsdale is known nationally and internationally for its many art and cultural amenities. Scottsdale is home to over 125 professional art galleries and studios, one of the highest per-capita concentrations anywhere in the US.  The city is a center for art in the nation and according to the Scottsdale Convention & Visitor's Bureau and American Style Magazine, the city has become one of the country's largest markets for art, joining ranks with New York City, and Santa Fe, in terms of commerce generated as a direct result of art sales.  In 2005, the city's annual Scottsdale Arts Festival was ranked the number-one such event in United States. The highest concentrations of galleries, studios and museums that are open to the public can be found in Downtown Scottsdale. The very popular Scottsdale Artwalk is held every Thursday evening.

Taliesin West, premier architect Frank Lloyd Wright's winter home and school, is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Arizona. The compound is located at the base of the beautiful McDowell Mountains.

As a result of the city's many amentities, events and activites, Scottsdale real estate values are less impacted by general economic conditions and fare better during tough times.
